New Fund/Performance to Help Domestic Violence Victims

May 2, 2005 Amherst, MA

This Saturday, on the evening before Mother’s Day, a performance in Greenfield will seek to raise money for a new fund for women who are victims of domestic violence, called Devorah’s Door to Safety. The idea for the performance — and the fund — began with Eve Brown-Waite. Last fall, she put out a call for submissions of prose or poetry, by women about their bodies. And she got quite a response. The performance is called Body Language: A Celebration.

The performance will take place at 7:00 pm this Saturday night at All Souls Church in Greenfield, Massachusetts. Brown-Waite says the program is appropriate for teenage children, and she hopes men will attend too. Tickets are available at Nelcwit and at the World Eye Bookstore, both in Greenfield.
