April 24, 2008, Amherst, MA – 640 AM, NPR News and Information for Western New England, announces the launch of a brand new morning drive time program, The Takeaway with John Hockenberry and Adaora Udoji. The program will air from 8-9 weekday mornings, beginning Monday, April 28. The Takeaway provides a breadth and depth of world, national and regional news coverage that is unprecedented in public media.
April 14, 2008, Amherst MA – WFCR, NPR News and Music for Western New England announces that one of its news reporters, Karen Brown, has won four awards for her story, Love, War and PTSD. The story was about a local couple's struggle with post traumatic stress after the husband's return from serving in Iraq.
The awards come from four different national and regional organizations.
April 2, 2008, Amherst MA – 640 AM WNNZ, NPR News and Information for Western New
England, announces plans to carry special programming from China the week of April 14-18,
2008. The programs will air from 10 AM-noon each day as part of the daily, NPR interview and
call-in show, On Point, hosted by Tom Ashbrook.

March 6, 2008 Amherst, Massachusetts – 88.5FM WFCR, NPR News and Music for Western
New England, and 640AM WNNZ, WFCR’s AM Broadcast Station will offer its third tour to the
Santa Fe Opera and surrounding parts of New Mexico, as part of its travel program on August 10-
14, 2008. The tour, produced for WFCR by Ellen Gill, CTC and Tours of Distinction in East
Windsor, CT, will be hosted by WFCR Music Host John Montanari.
