WFCR To Broadcast Springfield Symphony on Sundays
[September 3, 2008-Amherst, MA] 88.5 FM WFCR and 640 AM WNNZ, NPR News and Music for Western New England, will present the complete 2007-2008 season of the Springfield Symphony Orchestra, beginning Sunday September 7 at noon on 88.5 FM WFCR and continuing each Sunday afternoon through October 19, 2008.
WFCR Convention Coverage
[August 26, 2008-Amherst, MA] 88.5 FM WFCR and 640 AM WNNZ, NPR News and Music for Western New England, will broadcast special coverage during the two weeks of the Democratic and Republican national conventions. August 25-28, 88.5 FM WFCR will carry live coverage each evening from 8 to 11 PM from the Democratic convention in Denver. September 1-4, also from 8- 11 PM, live coverage will be broadcast from the Republican convention in St. Paul. In addition, special programming will be carried on 640 AM WNNZ.

[August 20, 2008-Amherst, MA] 88.5 FM WFCR and 640 AM WNNZ, NPR News and Music for Western New England, UMass Amherst Outreach and the Basketball Hall of Fame announce that StoryCorps' mobile recording booth is coming to Western Massachusetts. It will be at the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame in Springfield from August 28 to September 20. StoryCorps booths have traveled across the US, recording conversations in over 100 locations in 48 states and conducting more than 20,000 interviews, in the largest oral history project of its kind.

[July 17, 2008-Amherst, MA] Officials at public radio stations 88.5FM WFCR and 640AM WNNZ- -NPR news and music for western New England–announced today that fundraising for their 2008 Fiscal Year (July, 2007 – June, 2008) was remarkably successful given the stresses in the economy at large.
"Several factors played into the success of this past year's individual giving," said director of development Jerry S. Moore reflecting on the budgetary requirement for the year of $1.68M for which the station was shy just $19,000 at the close of June.
