New England Public Radio has named Anglika Melien president of the New England Public Radio Foundation, Inc., and added several new members to its board of directors. Tim Boomer (formerly an advisor to the board), Kathleen Dugas, Patricia Hallberg, Christine Hutchins, Sura Levine and Jamina Scippio-McFadden have all joined as directors. Jennifer Endicott has joined as an advisor. Former Board President Paul Lambert has transitioned to Ex-Officio and Marc Berman has transitioned to Emeritus. Both serve as advisors. Dennis Bromery, Lisa Piehler and Scott Hanson moved from director to advisor positions, and Irv Rhodes resigned from the station’s board.
Changes were also made to the board’s Executive Committee. In addition to Angelika Melien becoming Board President, Robert Feldman is now First Vice President, Carey Baker the Clerk/Secretary and Tim Boomer the Treasurer.
The New England Public Radio Foundation is an independent, nonprofit organization created to conduct fund raising activities for New England Public Radio. Their mission is to guarantee New England Public Radio’s future as a premier public media organization by enhancing financial support, promoting community interest, and providing advice and recommendations to station management and WFCR’s license holder UMass. The NEPR Foundation is currently made up of twenty-four directors (of a maximum 25), thirteen advisors, four ex-officio, and three emeritus members, and has representation from Amherst, Hampshire, Mount Holyoke and Smith colleges, and The University of Massachusetts Amherst.

Angelika Melien, Leadership Giving Officer at Bay Path University, has twenty years of extensive experience in the fund development arena, having served as Assistant V.P for Institutional Advancement at Western New England University, and Director of Marketing, Public Relations Director of Fund Development for Girl Scouts of Central and Western Mass. as well as Fund Development for Pioneer Valley Girl Scout Council. Ms. Melien holds a BA in Psychology from the UMass Amherst, and an MBA from American International College. She lives in Hampden, Massachusetts and has two grown children living in Southborough, Massachusetts and Las Vegas.

Tim Boomer, Director
Tim Boomer is a consultant and data scientist specializing in strategy, risk management, and operational process improvement. Tim has over 13 years of consulting experience at firms including McKinsey and Gupton Marrs International as well as 15 years of finance experience at Citigroup, Bankers Trust, and Deutsche Bank. Tim is an amateur musician and an accomplished organist. He and his wife have divided their time between New York City and Hillsdale, NY for over 35 years and they are long-time supporters of music and theater in the Berkshires. Tim has an AB in economics from Princeton and an MBA from Harvard Business School where he was a Baker Scholar. He is also a volunteer Community Mentor for the Johns Hopkins Data Science Program through Coursera.
Kathleen Dugas, Director
Kathleen is a local photographer in Deerfield, Massachusetts. After moving to the area in 1983, Kathleen graduated from Greenfield Community College with Honors, from Smith College, Magna Cum Laude/Phi Beta Kappa and attended UCONN School of Law. Kathleen was the business manager of Schwartz Orthodontics for over 20 years. In 2009 she retired from her position and returned to school at the Hallmark Institute of Photography fulfilling a long-held desire to focus on the creative side of her life. Kathleen has been on the boards of the Deerfield Academy Preschool, The Bement School (including Parents’ Association President) and Journey Camp. She was a member of the Northfield-Mount Hermon Parent Council and The United Way of Franklin County FEMA Board and Preschool Reading Program.
Patricia Hallberg, Director
Pattie is the CEO of Girl Scouts of Central and Western Massachusetts. She has successfully managed organizations in complex, mission-driven environments to support the creativity and leadership development of youth throughout her career. Pattie has been actively involved with a number of non-profit boards since she moved to the Pioneer Valley in 2007 with her husband Stephen Brand. They have four adult daughters.
Christine Hutchins, Director
Christine Hutchins is vice president for communications and marketing at Mount Holyoke College, where she is responsible for elevating the College’s reputation and brand equity worldwide. Hutchins previously served for eight years as Stanford University’s senior associate athletics director of external relations. Prior to Stanford University, Christine served in various leadership capacities across a number of industries from investment banking, consumer products, nonprofits, and startups. She earned her BA in Economics and Public Policy from the University of Chicago and her MBA in Strategic Management Consulting and Marketing from MIT Sloan School of Management. Christine and her husband are raising daughters Skylar (age 9) and Sequoia (age 3) – plus the family’s dog and cat.
Sura Levine, Director
Sura Levine is dean of the School of Humanities, Arts, and Cultural Studies and professor of art history at Hampshire College where she has taught since 1987. She is a specialist in the social history of 19th and 20th century European and American art with a particular interest in representations of labor, class and gender in Belgian art. She has published widely in the US and abroad and has curated a number of exhibitions, especially for the Musées Royaux des Beaux-Arts de Belgique in Brussels. In addition, she teaches courses on visual culture and the Holocaust and on the history of collecting. She is presently working on a book about the Resistance in Belgium during World War II. Sura received a B.A. from the University of Michigan and an M.A. and Ph.D. in art history from the University of Chicago.
Jamina Scippio-McFadden, Director
Jamina Scippio-McFadden is the Director of Student Services, Marketing and Community Relations at the University of Massachusetts Center in downtown Springfield. She has previously taught communications at American International College and served as a college administrator and faculty member at institutions in Florida and Georgia. She has over 20 years’ experience in various aspects of the media industry including television news, radio, newspaper and public relations. Jamina is a graduate of Bethune-Cookman University in Daytona Beach, Florida and the University of Florida in Gainesville. Since 2010 the Florida native has resided in Western Massachusetts with her husband and college sweetheart, the Rev. Dr. Calvin J. McFadden, Sr., and their two children, Catherine and Calvin Jerome.
Jennifer Endicott, Advisor
Jennifer Endicott is Chief Strategy Officer and Senior Vice President, Strategy and External Relations, at Baystate Health. She works closely with the senior team to formulate and execute health system strategy and provides oversight for all strategic planning, business development and external relations functions to fulfill Baystate Health’s vision and mission. Jennifer comes to Baystate Health from Orlando Health in Florida, where she served as vice president, Clinical Integration, for an 1,800+ bed system. Prior to her role at Orlando Health, she served as senior vice president for the national health care management consulting group, Navvis & Company, headquartered in St. Louis. She is a graduate of the University of Florida.
