New England Public Radio launches the on-air portion of its “Feed Your Radio, Feed a Family” fundraising campaign on today and is happy to report that over 350 listeners have already joined in the effort to date. “Feed Your Radio, Feed a Family” is a special partnership between New England Public Radio, The Food Bank of Western Massachusetts and the ShopRite of Enfield to raise awareness about hunger in the region and help The Food Bank distribute food across western Massachusetts.
For every contribution made to New England Public Radio during the campaign (February 8 – March 13, 2016) the ShopRite of Enfield grocery store will donate funds to provide seven meals to The Food Bank of Western Massachusetts. As of this morning, 2,464 meals have been donated. NEPR hopes to have participation from over 1,600 listeners during the campaign.
“We are happy to once again offer this unique opportunity to our listeners,” said NEPR’s CEO and general manager Martin Miller. “Our listeners want to support the Food Bank’s good work, while at the same time supporting their public radio station – it’s a win win.”
“We are very grateful for the continued support from New England Public Radio and their caring listeners,” says The Food Bank’s executive director, Andrew Morehouse. “With these strong community partnerships, we are able to provide more nutritious meals to our neighbors in need throughout western Massachusetts, and ensure that everyone has access to healthy food, regardless of their circumstances.”
The partnership’s key financial partner, the ShopRite of Enfield, based right across the Massachusetts border in Enfield, Connecticut, is pleased to join in the effort this year.
