[January 17, 2008 – Amherst, MA] 88.5FM WFCR, NPR New and Music for Western New England, announces the addition of two new programs to 640AM WNNZ's weekend schedule, as well as some new times for several established programs, beginning February 2nd.
The first is "The Splendid Table," hosted by chef and food writer, Lynne Rosetto Caspar. The program will air on 640 AM WNNZ at 11 AM Saturday mornings. "The Splendid Table" is a program about food, cooking and culture and includes discussions and interviews with writers and others who love sharing their culinary passions. The program is distributed by American Public Media in St. Paul, Minnesota.
The second is a brand new program, co-produced by Radio Netherlands Worldwide (RNW) and public radio station WAMU in Washington, DC. It's hosted by RNW's Jonathan Groubert. The program will air at 4 PM on Saturdays on WNNZ. "The State We're In" is a current affairs program, featuring stories from all over the world. It covers important global issues and smaller, lesser known ones, which can also have worldwide impact. One of the program's main focuses is human rights. (NB: There is no relationship to the program "The State We're In," produced by TV57/WGBY Springfield).
In addition, three WNNZ programs are moving to new times. "Says You" moves to Sundays at noon, "Selected Shorts" moves to 3 PM on Saturdays and"Marketplace Money" will now be heard at 5 PM on Saturdays. "Whad'ya Know" will be dropped from the WNNZ schedule to make room for "The Splendid Table" and "The State We're In." All of WFCR and WNNZ's programming can also be heard streamed through WFCR's website, digital.nepr.net, where schedules for WFCR's three broadcast services, and information about 640AM WNNZ, HD and WiFi radio are also available.
