Massachusetts Sen. Ed Markey will attend a town hall meeting in Northampton Thursday night.
Markey’s presence is part of a series of similar meetings taking place across the country by held by members of both parties during the congressional recess.
Pamela Schwartz, a local volunteer for the group, MoveOn, said she is happy Markey is coming to town to hear concerns about the Trump adminstration’s immigration policies.
“We just feel incredibly grateful that we have great leadership determined to protect our state and our communities and really be a frontline defense,” Schwartz said.
A spokesperson for Congressman Richard Neal said Wednesday his office is planning to hold digital town halls to reach the largest audience possible. A demonstration outside of Neal’s Springfield office had been previously scheduled for Friday to protest the lack of a town hall with constituents.
