Massachusetts no longer requires people taking the bar exam to get advance permission to wear something on their heads for religious or medical reasons. The abrupt change in policy comes after a proctor earlier this month mistakenly insisted that Iman Abdulrazzak remove her head scarf, not knowing that she had obtained permission ahead of time. Marilyn Wellington, the director of the State Board of Bar Examiners, says the incident made the board realize there was a problem.
