Congressman Richard Neal of Springfield is firing back after a newspaper article last week took him to task for not having a recognizable presence in across his district.
The Greenfield Recorder quoted residents and local officials who said Neal has been largely invisible in Franklin County. For his part, Neal says he’s vigorously represented his towns in the county.
“Whether it was high speed internet, whether it has been full consideration any request that has been made,” Neal says. “I have visited there a number of times. I have been to the high schools, had a chance to engage. So I was surprised, but I think the evidence is pretty clear in the other direction.”
Congressional redistricting added a dozen towns in western Franklin County to Neal’s district five years ago.
