Massachusetts Gov. Deval Patrick paid off a wager Tuesday.
Patrick visited his hometown of Chicago to work in a food pantry alongside Illinois Gov. Pat Quinn. The two governors bet over the outcome of the Stanley Cup finals between the Boston Bruins and the Chicago Blackhawks. Chicago won the series in six games.
“The one condition that I wasn’t willing to accede to was wearing the jersey. Because you know there are complications at home for that kind of thing,” Patrick said, to laughter.
The governor is due back in Massachusetts Wednesday, when state lawmakers are expected to vote to override his veto of major transportation and budget legislation.
