The book follows a young boy as he talks to animals in his local park, asking them, “what is poetry?” It’s all part of his preparation to perform at the park’s poetry reading.
Archer says the idea for the story started at the end – with a picture of a young boy standing on a stage. She then had to decide how he got there.
