The number of young adult women taking medication for Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder jumped by 85 percent between 2008 and 2012. That’s according to a new report by the pharmacy company “Express Scripts.”
Karen Weintraub, with the Connecticut Investigative Health Team, looked more deeply into the numbers. Weintraub says attention problems in girls and women have been under-recognized. She says that’s mainly because girls with ADHD don’t always seem hyperactive.
