Massachusetts Governor Charlie Baker has been largely absent in recent months from the Western part of the state.
In late December, Baker attended a holiday party thrown by the website MassLive. But he hasn’t had a public event in the four westernmost counties since November 1st: a grant announcement in Westfield.
Lieutenant Governor Karen Polito has been more visible in the region. She was in Springfield less than a month ago for an employment roundtable, and is scheduled to be back Thursday for a few stops in Pittsfield.
Baker’s press secretary said in a statement that Baker, Polito and others in the administration are pleased to “frequently” visit communities around Massachusetts, including the western part, to meet with local leaders and for events such as grant announcements.
