What made The Short List this week?
- The American flag is flying again at Hampshire College in Amherst. This followed a difficult couple weeks at the school — students lowered the flag to half-staff after the election, then the flag was found burned. Eventually, the college president ordered the flag down entirely. He said it was done to allow for dialogue on the flag and issues facing the country.
- Big news for Congressman Richie Neal of Springfield. He’ll become the top Democrat on the powerful House Ways and Means Committee. Even though Democrats are the minority, Neal says he’ll have clout.
