Hundreds of people marched and rallied against President-elect Donald Trump in downtown Springfield on Sunday, carrying signs promoting racial equality and chanting “No Trump.”
Kara Kharmah of Amherst brought her two daughters — one in a stroller, and the other 14.
“I’m afraid it’s not just Trump. But it’s all the people that voted for him that agreed with a lot of what he said that scare the crap out of me,” Kharmah said. “Sorry, I probably shouldn’t have said that.”
Kharmah said she saw this event as a way to send a message.
“I want Trump and whoever he’s working with to know that people are watching,” she said.
Springfield’s rally came on the fifth day of anti-Trump protests across the country.
The president-elect last week tweeted that the demonstrations were “unfair.” He later said the protesters showed “passion for our country.”
