Massachusetts residents are streaming into early voting locations to cast their ballots — and that includes some of the candidates themselves.
State Senate President Stan Rosenberg of Amherst voted early. So did a Southampton resident trying to win a seat in the Senate — J.D. Parker-O’Grady. He said he wants to focus on other things on Election Day.
“Well, we’ll be around, doing visibility, out holding signs,” he said. “Generally, just making sure people are getting to the polls.”
Other candidates said they’re waiting until Election Day, including Parker-O’Grady’s opponent, state Senator Don Humason of Westfield — and Longmeadow state Senator Eric Lesser.
“I personally like the sort of — the symbolism of going on the day with my family,” Lesser said.
On that issue, at least, Lesser agrees with his challenger, Chip Harrington of Ludlow.
“As a candidate, I just…like to a be a part of the process on the actual Election Day,” he said.
But for those who can’t wait, early voting continues until Friday.
