Former Massachusetts Governor Bill Weld is seeking the Libertarian Party’s nomination for vice president. That’s to according to published reports. But current Governor Charlie Baker says he probably won’t vote for his old boss.
Baker was a member of Weld’s cabinet in the 1990’s. He calls Weld a mentor and says he owes a lot to him. Baker has criticized both Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton and says he wouldn’t vote for either of those presidential candidates. He tells WGBH that even with Weld in the mix, he likely won’t vote for anybody.
“I would say that my focus is going to be on the ballot questions and especially on the charter school question and on the marijuana question and on the state rep(resentative) and state senate races here in Massachusetts,” Baker says.
Weld is the running mate of former New Mexico Governor Gary Johnson, who is looking to become the Libertarian Party’s presidential nominee. It could become official at next week’s party convention
