A private Berkshire County school for boys and young men with emotional disabilities has been placed on probation by the state. This follows the arrests of five Eagleton School staffers last month in connection with student abuse.
In a letter to Eagleton’s president, state education officials say investigations into abuse allegations have left them with quote “grave concerns” that the school can provide an appropriate educational environment. As part of the probation, Eagleton can’t accept new students, must file daily reports with the state and will be subject to announced and unannounced inspections. An attorney for Eagleton says in a statement the school is cooperating with the state and remains committed to improving services at the school.
