Today’s balmy weather hardly feels like a traditional New England Christmas Eve, but that may change next week.
The record for the warmest December 24th in history has been set at Bradley Airport in Windsor Locks, Connecticut, and across the region. Today is also the thirteenth day over 50 degrees this month, the most for any December on the books. Bill Simpson of the National Weather Service in Taunton, Massachusetts says, don’t get used to it. He says a return to typical winter weather could be in store for next week.
“The cold air that’s been shunted north of us will be filtering down,” Simpson says. “It doesn’t mean we’re going to have big, blockbuster storms, but we have our first potential wintry mix either late Monday or Tuesday into Wednesday.”
Christmas Day is expected to be dry with temperatures in the high 50’s.
