An anti-pipeline group is taking its case to Massachusetts’ highest court. Late last month, the state’s Department of Public Utilities approved contracts between several gas utilities and Kinder Morgan. The company wants to bring a controversial natural gas pipeline through New York, Massachusetts, and New Hampshire.
The Pipe Line Awareness Network (PLAN) asked to be an “intervenor” in those rulings, but was denied. The group is now appealing that decision to the Massachusetts Supreme Judicial Court. They’re represented by attorney Richard Kanoff. He says the group would have argued the Northeast Direct pipeline project – or NED – is bad for ratepayers.
