What made The Short List this week?

  • Springfield saw its 13th murder of 2015. That’s just one fewer murder than the city witnessed in all of 2014, and it means Springfield is more deadly this year than any other New England city, except for Hartford.
  • Mayor Domenic Sarno’s war of words with the Hampden County Bar Association quickly escalated. The fight is over bail amounts for repeat offenders, but it’s also about politics, the Constitution and community frustration.
  • The Fourth of July brings hot dogs, fireworks, music and pool parties. It also brings terror warnings from the feds. Our panel dives into ISIS, patriotism and whether the very nature of holidays is forever changed.
