In the race for Massachusetts governor, there was a significant gender divide, with Republican Governor-elect Charlie Baker winning among men by 17 points and Democrat Martha Coakley winning among women by 15 points.
Those are some of the findings of an exit poll conducted by UMass. The poll found Baker won twice as much support from independents as Coakley, and UMass Poll director Brian Schaffner notes another question that provides insight into Baker’s victory: when did you decide which candidate to vote for?
