As we approach November 4th, we’re hosting a series of mini-debates on the four ballot questions facing Massachusetts voters this year.
Today we look at Question 2 – the “Bottle Bill.” Voters will choose whether to expand the bottle deposit law to include beverages like water, juice, and sports drinks. That’s the five cent recycling deposit that’s been around for over thirty years on bottles of carbonated drinks like soda and beer.
We’re joined by Phil Sego of the Sierra Club, one of several environmental groups which support the ballot question, and Robert Durand, a former state legislator and state environmental affairs secretary, and part of a group which opposes the question.
