The Springfield Symphony begins its eighth decade Saturday night when a new season opens. Maestro Kevin Rhodes has renewed his relationship as music director of the ensemble for the next three seasons.

In an interview, Rhodes talked about the impact of a possible casino coming to the city, the health of the orchestra’s finances and the highlights of his now-13 years in Springfield.
