Hampden District Attorney Mark Mastroianni will have to wait a little longer before finding out if his nomination to the Federal Court in Springfield goes through.

The U.S. Senate Judiciary Committee was supposed to vote on the nomination Thursday, but Republicans called for an extra week to review it. A spokesperson said this is common for the committee, and they will likely meet again next Thursday to consider the nomination.

President Barack Obama nominated Mastroianni for the position after the current district judge, Michael Ponsor, reduced his case load in 2011. If the committee votes in favor of Mastroianni, it will go to the full Senate for a final decision.
