For the first time in more than two months, the UMass men’s basketball team has fallen out of the national rankings.
It has been quite a season for UMass – lots of exciting, narrow victories and its first spot in the Associated Press rankings in 15 years.
But the Minutemen took a turn, dropping eight spots in last week’s poll. And after two more losses in the past week – to St. Bonaventure and then St. Joe’s – UMass has fallen out of the top 25 altogether. They still have an impressive 17 and four overall record, but are now in the middle of the pack in the Atlantic 10 conference.
While UMass was heading out of the rankings, UConn came climbing back. The Huskies are now ranked 22nd in the poll. And UConn’s women’s team – still undefeated – is still top ranked in the country.
