Western New England has been soaked with between two and four inches of rain so far today from a large storm which has impacted travel across the country. Bill Simpson is a spokesman for the National Weather Service in Taunton, Massachusetts. He says drivers headed to their Thanksgiving destinations should not have to deal with icy roadways, perhaps until after peak travel hours.

“There may be a lull between when the precip(itation) stops, which is later this evening and when the temperatures crash below freezing, which should be right around, say between 10 and midnight. Hopefully people that are driving will be done”, Simpson says

Simpson says temperatures will struggle to get out of the 30’s through the weekend. But he doesn’t expect any significant rain or snow to affect travelers returning home. A spokesperson for Bradley International Airport in Connecticut said Wednesday afternoon it’s been business as usual there. He says most flights have been off and landing without significant delays.
