The Boston Red Sox play Tuesday afternoon in Detroit, with the American League Championship Series tied 1 to 1.
The Sox lost Saturday’s game 1 against the Tigers and were in a pit late in game 2. But David Ortiz hit an 8th inning grand-slam and Jarrod Saltalamacchia a 9th inning RBI single to even the series.
The ALCS heads west Tuesday to Detroit. The Tigers’ starting pitchers have been nearly perfect in the series so far, striking out 25 and giving up just one run over 13 innings.
Tuesday afternoon they send Justin Verlander to the mound. John Lackey starts for the Sox.
