Artist Chris Demarest is a successful, long-time, children’s book illustrator. He’s also a man driven to document aspects of World War II through art. He just told his editor and his agent that he’s shelving his most recent book project and dedicating the next two or three years to painting portraits of World War II experiences from photos, found in scrap books among other places. He says, how how can he not? He started his national tour of painting in public spaces, like libraries, in Amherst, Massachusetts.
