It’s been exactly a year since Tropical Storm Irene slammed into the region causing extensive flooding and millions of dollars in damage and loss.  In Vermont, devastation was extensive. but in Massachusetts, one stretch of state Route 2 — about 6 miles — was particularly hard hit. It was between the towns of Florida and Charlemont  and was closed for 3.5 months.
