As the region continues to clean up from Saturday's early winter storm,–some communities face particularly tough conditions–Belchertown, Massachusetts is one.. A busy six-mile stretch of Route 9 from the Pelham town line all the way to the intersection of Route 202 is still down to one lane in several places. The entire section of roadway is littered with downed tree limbs, power lines and other debris, which is slowing traffic. Tree and utility crews working in the area are adding to the congestion. Meanwhile thousands of Belchertown electric customers remain without power. One resident, Patty Sullivan, says she has been without power, heat or water since Saturday Night. She says the situation has left her frustrated…

And Thursday is the day in which National Grid hopes that power will be restored to Sullivan and the rest of the town. Belchertown residents in need of shelter can go to the High School located at 142 Springfield Road.
