Connecticut will no longer be using dead birds to track the progress of the West Nile Virus, choosing instead to rely on 91 mosquito traps set up across the State. Dr. Theodore Andreadis, the chief medical entomologist at the Connecticut agricultural station in New Haven, told WFCR’s Kari Njiiri that the bird surveillance program has no longer become useful in accurately tracking the status of the virus.
