The deadline to sign up without penalty for Medicare’s prescription drug benefit — Medicare Part D — is Monday, May 15. As Congress debates whether to extend that deadline, many seniors are turning to their pharmacies for help in deciding when and how to sign up. But even pharmacists — especially the small independents — are feeling overwhelmed by the multiple private plans involved in Medicare Part D.
