If you’ve lived in New England for some time, you’ve probably heard of contra dancing, and maybe you’ve even tried it out for yourself! Being from the suburbs of Philadelphia, I never heard of contra dance until I was a student at UMass. I decided to check it out to understand more about this folk-style dance. I went to the downtown contra dance to get a taste of this local culture.
