How do you write about a subject on which there are already more than 15,000 books? Author and journalist Adam Hochschild gives a biography of a book in progress.
Hochschild is the author of seven books of memoir, reportage and history, including King Leopold’s Ghost: A Story of Greed, Terror and Heroism in Colonial Africa. He has been a finalist for the National Book Award, winner of the Los Angeles Times Book Prize for History, and has received awards for the body of his work from the American Historical Association and the American Academy of Arts and Letters. He teaches at the Graduate School of Journalism at the University of California at Berkeley.
