New England Public Radio and the Academy of Music teamed up to present the first Valley Voices Story Slam at Hinge in Northampton on March 14, 2014 from 7:30pm – 9:30pm. The theme for the first person narrative is “Second Chances.”
What’s a StorySlam? A StorySlam is a competition based on the art of storytelling. It puts emphasis on content and performance, encouraging storytellers to focus on what they’re saying and how they’re saying it. It is an exercise in crafting stories within a set time limit and it’s great entertainment.
Ten storytellers were selected to share their true story, based on the “Second Chances” theme without notes, and in five minutes. The audience chose the winners.
