Naturalist Laurie Sanders is back from Costa Rica and Field Notes is back on Morning Edition! Today, Laurie takes a look at the tenuous lifespan of wood turtles. These turtles – named because their upper shell resembles carved wood, were once common in New England. Today they’re in so much trouble that they’re protected in every state in their range. One local researcher is trying to figure out how to help this species recover.
