This election season, we’re hosting a series of short debates on the four ballot questions facing Massachusetts voters.
MORE: Debates on other ballot questions
Today we look at Question 1. It proposes a change to the state’s casino law which would allow the gaming commission to award a second slots parlor license, and it’s written in a way to tailor the location to Revere.
Representing supporters of the question is David Nealley, a city councilor in Bangor, Maine, where he worked to turn the Bangor Historic Track into the Hollywood Casino Bangor. He’s speaking for the Horse Racing Jobs and Education Committee, the group behind ballot question that’s run by developer Eugene McCain. Speaking for opponents — Celeste Ribeiro Myers, chair of the Committee for Responsible and Sustainable Economic Development. She is a longtime opponent of gambling in Massachusetts.
