Our summer fiction series continues with the book “In This Strange Soil” by Florence, Massachusetts-based author Jillian Hensley.
Set in the early 18th century, it’s based on actual Native American raids on two Massachusetts settlements, including Deerfield. The book is narrated by a French Jesuit priest, who recalls his interaction with a boy captured in a raid.
