We’ve been talking this month to candidates in several mayoral races around western Massachusetts. Today, we head to Pittsfield, where incumbent Mayor Dan Bianchi is being challenged by City Clerk Linda Tyer. A few weeks ago, plastics company SABIC, a major employer in Pittsfield, announced it would leave town.
Mayor Bianchi says he’s working with the state to support any workers that may be laid off. But since many of SABIC’s employees are skilled engineers, he says there may be a silver lining.

Also this week, we’ll hear from Bianchi’s opponent, Linda Tyer.
