For over 30 years, jazz educators from UMass’ illustrious music program have teamed up with musicians from around the country to provide an intensive week long crash course in jazz performance. “Jazz in July” gives students a chance to play in a variety of styles, both in the classroom and on stage. With a focus on small group work, Jazz in July provides students with a unique and intimate learning experience.
AudioFiles intern Scott Friedman visited the program to capture some of the sounds coming out of UMass’ flagship campus this summer.
